Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong signs with Glory!
A great news for Muay Thai & Kickboxing fans, in fact the current Lumpinee Stadium 147lbs & Thailand (PAT – 147lbs) champion, Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong, who’s considered by Muay Farang Manager: Roberto Gallo Cassarino, the best 70kg in the world (Muay Thai and Kickboxing), just signed a contract with the important K1 rules circuit: Glory World Series.
Year after year, Sitthichai’s Manager, Mr. Tim Dharmajiva, confirms his position as point of reference in Thailand for the best Thai athletes of Kickboxing or K1 rules.
The first one who believed that this could happen, was Roberto Gallo Cassarino, who’s one the precursors of the philosophy that sees the diffusion of Kickboxing and Boxing schools teaching in Thai camps, that want their fighters to compete in Europe.
We asked Roberto a comment about Sittichai’s success in a such different discipline from Muay Thai, the K1 rules:
“I discussed many times, with the Managers of the Thai camps i work with, regarding the fact that if Thais wanted to win outside Thailand, they had to understand that outside Asia, Muay Thai as we intend of it in Bangkok, almost doesn’t exist and the audience calls Muay Thai or Thai Boxe what in fact is K1 rules. This implies that the athletes have to be differently prepared and especially have to refine their boxing their rhythm”
Glory is known to the audience because of the great names who fought in it, such as: Giorgio Petrosyan, Kem Sitsongpeenong, Andy Souwer, Remy Bonjasky, Robin Van Roosmalen, Artem Levin ect.
Today Sitthichai gets a big advantage compared to the big old and new competitors such as: K-1 World Max and the brand new and very active Chinese circuit, Kunlun Fight that is killing “all” the big names, especially in the -70kg category where Muay Farang will be represented by the Champ Haida Mustapha (team Monini) Italy (Fight1).
We want to remember that Haida defeated Andy Sower (Video) and the Kunlun fight 2014 champion: Dzianis Zuev. Who knows if the Chinese will be able to keep Haida or….
