Mathias stuns Lumpinee Stadium
Incredible performance by italian Mathias Gallo Cassarino defending the colors of 7 Muay Thai gym, that last saturday on the Muay Thai Kiatpech promotion Lumpinee TKO ( live on TV Channel 9) got the praise of both muay thai experts and public.
Keeping aside the actual review of the match, that can actually be viewed on the video, we would like to focus more on the aspects that made this match develop in an actual war that will be long remembered.
First at all we have to record the pull out of his scheduled opponent Kompetch Fairtex-forfeit difficult to understand-just 3 days before the fight fixed at 62 Kg. (136lbs).
Mathias got then provided a solid replacement by the promoter, that initially sounded a bit odd ,as the thai usually fights a weight class above the italian nak muay : Kuan-Au Par Sobum aka Ronnachai.
As expected his opponent is not able to drop to 140 lbs, and for this reason Mathias is somehow ‘pressed’ to accept 1 kg difference during the official weigh in and the limit is officially pushed up to – 142 lbs.
At this point the gamblers enters the game, and they will become the key factor of the great match between the thai and the italian:knowing the difficulties and the drama Mathias had to put up with in the last days, the unfavorable weight class and adding the fact he has just become dad all odds were against him,and for this reason his opponent got-evidently-promised a large ‘tip’ in case of victory or ko.
The fact the gamblers didnt think about was actually that Mathias is known for performing at his top during stressfull and unfavorable conditions: Mathias will then be able to contain the endless moving forward of his opponent even during the 5th round with an already defined scoring in favour of the italian , sustaining minum damage apart from 2-very bloody looking- cuts.
Mathias will then get a convincing win, praised by the thai commentators(‘sanook mak mak’ heard on the tv broadcast) and by many experts that even wished for a rematch of the 2 in the major promotion of Channel 7, despite this appears nowadays to be offlimit to nak muay farang.
We hope to see the italian fighter on a 5 rounds format soon again and hopefully climbing the ranking of prestigious Lumpini Stadium:continuing in such fashion will maybe make the dream of a title shot possible in 2018.
